WANITA UMNO DEPUTY CHIEF JOINS PPS

BEAUFORT: Umno here lost another leader when its Wanita Deputy Chief, Ruandi Basnih, joined the Sabah Reform Alliance (PPS). Ruandi (right-old picture) said she left Umno because she has lost confidence in the party.

In terms of development, she said, Sabah is far behind compared to other states despite Sabah's natural wealth that generates the economy of the country.

She said many people are still poor and that this does not reflect Sabah's status as the Barisan Nasional's (BN) fixed deposit.

"Even though I am out of touch (with the current situation) because I was sick previously, I don't see any positive development with the party's (Umno) struggle, especially Wanita Umno here, who are more interested in personal or crony interests," he said.

Wanita Umno leadership here also failed to create a teamwork culture among the members and thus failed to focus on giving the best service to the people.

PPS Chairman Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, when welcoming Ruandi into the PPS fold, said the people's support to PPS' struggles has been positive.

"The positive response from the people is not only from this area but also from other districts," he said.

To this, he said, PPS would continue the tour series with Pakatan Rakyat to explain the halatuju of PPS, including on issues such as development and economy that are affecting Sabahans in general.
