WOW! Selangor MCA confident of winning at least 7 seats

SHAH ALAM-Selangor MCA is confident of winning at least seven out of 14 seats allocated for the party in the coming general election.

Barisan Nasional information chief Datuk Yap Pian Hon said MCA's focus is to maintain and and increase the number of seats after only winning two in the 2008 general election.

"We hope the people do not misunderstand and think that MCA only wants to win seven seats. It is just that this time we do not want to be over confident and take things lightly.

"We have learned from our mistakes and over the past few years, we have worked hard to win over the Chinese voters in the state.

"We will leverage on BN's growing strength in Selangor with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as our chair man," he said when met at the Umno building," here, today.

He said among the party's strategy was to concentrate on areas where its candidates lost by a slim majority.

At the same time, he said MCA had been informed by the rakyat in several constituencies that their Pakatan assembly rarely visited their areas to meet them and there were those whose faces were never seen by the people after winning the 2008 general election.

"Take for example the Balakong assemblyman who has gone missing for the past two years, I am sure we now have a chance to reclaim that seat.

"We are also using the new media like Facebook, Twitter and blogs to disseminate information more effectively to gain the support of the Chinese community especially the youths," he said adding that the social media was also used to quickly counter slanders and accusations by Pakatan against the party before they were accepted as the truth by the people.
