Are you ready for Putrajaya? DAP crowd says 'Yes'

To add salt to the wound, the Penang DAP at its open house today put the BN to shame again by asking the crowd whether they support the coalition.

NONEState DAP chief Chow Kon Yeow, during his speech referred to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s question to the crowd at Han Chiang College yesterday if they supported Psy, and the crowd gave a resounding “Yes”.

But when he asked if they were ready for BN, the crowd replied loudly ‘No’, said Chow, who is also state executive councillor for transport, local government and environment.

“Are you ready to accept BN?” asked Chow, and the Chinese New Year crowd at Times Square Penang shouted a big “No”.

“Are you ready for DAP? Are you ready for Pakatan (Rakyat)? Are you ready for Putrajaya?” Chow said loudly.

And the crowd of about 3,000, as if on cue, shouted back “Yes” to each question.

NONEChow then jested that Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng had wanted to ask the same question during his speech but was a little wary that he might get the same reply as Najib, the BN chairperson.

“So he asked me to test the market first,” Chow(right) added, and the crowd laughed.

Meanwhile, Chow thanked the people for giving Pakatan a chance to rule Penang for five years.

He added that in the past all DAP could do was be a watchdog, criticising and keeping watch on national policies affecting the people.

He stressed that all this while the DAP was strongly against corruption and was pro-human rights.

“But after governing Penang for five years, we are able to make Penang the role model for the rest of Malaysia,” he said.

But Chow warned that Penangites must not take the situation for granted as the 13th general election would be called in a matter of days.

‘BN still the strongest political coalition’

“We are to face BN which is still the strongest political coalition in the country. They have the support, money, manpower, media and machinery that we will face when we take them on during the polls,” he said.

NONE“Don’t be complacent that we are going to win in Penang. BN is no ordinary party and we can see that in the last few days they are able to get a few millions to throw away to invite Psy to perform,” he added.

Yesterday, top South Korean pop star Psy or Park Jae-sang managed to draw a crowd of about 40,000 to the state BN Chinese New Year open house at Han Chiang College.

Many of the particpants left the venue right after Psy performed his world-famous hit ‘Oppa Gangnam Style’ for eight minutes.

“Do not misunderstand that after we became the government in Penang, we are able to take on the BN,” he said.

“Do not ever think so because in this election, we are facing a life-and-death battle as the BN will do anything to  hang on to power.”
