For some, threats can be issued with impunity
YOURSAY 'Against the federal constitution? Muafakat, I suggest you read the constitution again. You clearly have no idea about what you are talking about.'
Interfaith group warned for defending use of 'Allah'
Fair Play: The Federal Constitution is the supreme document of the land. Before this Muslim group starts to issue 'warning' to other communities, please study the constitution first and see whether the MCCBCHST (Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism) is out of line.
And go lodge a police report if they did.
Giudice: Against the federal constitution? Pertubuhan Muafakat Sejahtera Masyarakat Malaysia (Muafakat), I suggest you read the constitution again. You clearly have no idea about what you are talking about.
Multi Racial: As we all understand, the constitution allow non-Muslims freedom of religion. The High Court has decided that non-Muslims are allow to use the word ‘Allah'. So what is Ismail Mina suggesting?
Ignore the constitution and ignore the law just because some politicians don't like it? MCCBCHST is not challenging the Muslims. They are not telling the Muslims what they can and cannot do.
What they are saying is the non-Muslims should be allowed freedom to preach to non-Muslims as allow in the constitution.
Grraaawwwnnn: Muafakat president Ismail Mina Ahmad and its members and should read and understand what is written in the Quran properly.
"O Humankind! We have created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you may know and cherish one another (not that you may despise each other).
"Verily, the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)." Surah al Hujurat (The Inner Chambers), 49:13.
In addition, Prophet Muhammad said, "I am the closest of all people to Jesus, son of Mary." He also said, "Prophets are brethren from one father, from different mothers, but with one religion" and "You Muslims shall conquer Egypt. When this happens, be kind to its Christian people." More here.
Aquinas Says: Let's remember that the basis for their claim is two-fold - firstly, that the Christians are infringing on their "monopoly" to the use of the word. No where else is this exclusive right claimed by the Muslims, except those in Malaysia.
Secondly, they are alleging without evidence that Christians are out there to confuse the Muslims by the use of the word ‘Allah'. No where in this dispute have we been given evidence to substantiate this either.
So it boils down to preferences. It is not about rights or justice. I would urge these accusers to tone down the rhetoric and the threats. It looks like someone is substituting reason with noise to further one's cause.
Slywolf: I guess Muafakat leader Ismail Mina did not read the following surah:
"Say (O Muslims): We believe in Allah and what is revealed to us and in what was revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob and the Tribes, and that Moses and Jesus received, and what the other Prophets received from their Lord. We make no distinctions among any of them." Surah al Baqara (The Cow), 2:136.
Anonymous_40f1: We Christians can use the word ‘Allah' as long as the court decides otherwise. We are refine people and will not threaten or fight you physically, but instead will fight the case in the courtroom.
Hang Babeuf: Premeditated ‘amok', or ‘amok' with advance notice, is a sign of moderation? Not even George Orwell could have imagined this twisted double-speak.
The tragedy is that this kind of contorted and distorted thinking convinces only those who utter and trade in it. It convinces them, but also damages them and wounds their own humanity. It destroys their dignity and their claim to any decent consideration.
Threatening, unleashing and giving legitimacy in advance to punitive, intimidatory violence is no sign of moderation. It is a confession of one's own political perversity and emptiness, of the moral vacuity and nullity of one's cause and its supporters.
Fair&Just: Thank you, MCCBCHST, for the passive resistance but tread carefully for as much as we want to stand tall and have a backbone, it is no use going against the force and might of the authority.
We are already used to such threats and intimidation and will leave to God to decide on who should suffer the consequences of their actions as we do not know how God thinks and if there is indeed a God.
Peacemaker: This is a world first - a group threatens to unleash its anger on another for using a word it has claim exclusivity.
Is the police going to arrest them under ISA-type laws for inciting civil unrest or are they waiting for their BN bosses to give permission?
Sinner: The motorcyclists are riding without heeding traffic rules. It makes me very angry.
If I get uncontrollable and decide to ram my car into everyone on the road, the motorcyclists should be responsible for it. - Malaysiakini
