DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh took a shot at Prime Minister Najib Razak for asking Penangites if they were ready for BN at its Chinese New Year open house in Penang yesterday.
Karpal said that it was a clear sign that Penangites rejected BN due to the poor response from the crowd to Najib at the event attended by some 40,000 people at Han Chiang College yesterday.
Najib was seen repeatedly asking the crowd three times "Are you ready for BN", but they replied "No!" to the premier three times loudly," said Karpal at a press conference in Penang this morning.
"For Psy, everybody said 'Yes', but when it came to BN, the answer was not one but three ‘Noes'," said the Bukit Gelugor MP, adding that Najib asked that question as he was eager to know the answer, and he got their response.
Anwar is DAP's choice
Karpal also criticised Najib for "not being very smart" to ask the same question three times when the answer was very clear.
"In a situation like this, a politician has to be smart in converting something from negative to positive," Karpal said.
Meanwhile, Karpal reiterated that opposition leader and PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim is the most qualified candidate to become the next prime minister should Pakatan take over the federal government in the coming polls.
Karpal said the DAP's choice for PM is one that is ultimately endorsed by PAS and PKR and Anwar is the best person to lead Malaysia.
