If PPP was unhappy, it could have taken legal action instead of storming the premises, says Nanban director Ahmad Mydin.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Nanban director Ahmad Mydin Sikander Batcha today described PPP’s action of ambushing his office yesterday as an embarrassment to the Indian community.
“If it was unhappy, it could take legal action. The PPP is an embarrassment to the Indian community,” said Ahmad Mydin, after a meeting with MIC Youth leader, T Mohan.
About 60 PPP members along with their president, M Kayveas, ambushed the Tamil daily’s office in Jalan Ipoh yesterday over an article critical of the party.
A Nanban crime reporter was also injured during the four-hour ruckus.
Ahmad Mydin said it was time the government legislated a law to protect journalists.
“This is not the first time this has happened. Journalists were injured during Bersih 3.0 rally,” he said.
Kayveas’ action would affect BN
Mohan said PPP’s action yesterday did not reflect BN’s way of doing things.
“PPP should apologise. We will give it moral support. When newspapers criticise MIC, we report it to the Home Ministry,” said Mohan.
He added that PPP and Kayveas’ action would affect BN’s performance in the general election.
“He must apologise and explain to the prime minister too,” said Mohan.
The Tamil daily also backed its columnist whose article got the PPP president hot under the collar by providing copies of media reports on the “rice for votes” allegation.
A Bernama report dated April 15, 2012 quoted PPP Youth chief Harridz Mohan speaking about the party’s “Feed: Food for Needy” programme.
A subsequent Bernama report quoted Malacca PPP chief Chiew Tiang Chai saying that the party was planning to put the rice aid programme into the Guinness Book of Records.
He planned to implement the project at his service centre in Kota Laksamana, Malacca.
