Shafie: Country ruined if Pakatan takes over
The country will be ruined and the good life the people are enjoying will take a turn for the worse if the opposition comes into power, said Umno vice-president Mohd Shafie Apdal.
Shafie, who is also rural and regional development minister and the MP for Semporna, said this scenario could happen because the parties in the opposition pact had differing ideologies and were unable to reach a consensus on the how the country is to be administered or even who would be prime minister (if they won the upcoming general election).
Good examples were PAS insisting on implementing hudud laws which the DAP was opposed to, he told reporters after attending a Chinese New Year open house hosted by the Semporna Chinese Business Hall last night.
Therefore, Shafie urged the people including the Chinese community to continue to support the Barisan Nasional for a secure future, development, political stability and peace.
In Kuala Lumpur, Puteri Umno chief Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, who is also deputy health minister, warned voters in Sabah that the state would have a bleak future if the opposition were to wrest the state from the BN in the GE.
"The people should wise up to the opposition because they can't even reach a consensus of on a small matter like seat distribution. If they can't even do this, how are they going to handle bigger and more serious matters," she said in a statement today.
