The 87-year-old former Malaysian prime minister was among some 2,000 personalities invited to attend the funeral church service that will take place at the St Paul’s Cathedral, the British daily reported, citing a list from Downing Street.
Other former world leaders invited to the church service include FW de Klerk, the former president of South Africa; Canada’s former prime minister Brian Mulroney; and former British prime minister Tony Blair.
Thatcher, the “Iron Lady” who dominated British politics for two decades, died on April 8 at age 87 following a stroke, news wire Reuters reported.
The tough, outspoken Thatcher led the Conservatives to three election victories, governing from 1979 to 1990, the longest continuous period in office by a British prime minister since the early 19th century.
She was also Britain’s only woman prime minister.
