GE13 SABOTAGE: We don't suspect anyone but Umno - Mustafa denies SEX VIDEO

GE13 SABOTAGE: We don't suspect anyone but Umno - Mustafa denies SEX VIDEO
UPDATED PKR leaders slammed Umno for springing on the Malaysian public the latest sex video conspiracy "with a twist", involving a senior PAS leader and an unknown woman, while at the same time putting the blame on PKR.
"It has all the trademarks of the Umno-backed bloggers and to even imply that it is done by PKR shows how low the standard of understanding and political maturity among the very people whom Umno has given full support to create the slanders," Rafizi Ramli, the PKR strategy director told Malaysia Chronicle.
Meanwhile, the alleged PAS leader Mustafa Ali has denied being the man in the video and has appointed a lawyer to look into the accusations.
“This is a pure slander campaign by Umno. We do not suspect anyone else but the work of Umno. My client denies it. The video suddenly appeared,” his lawyer Asmuni Awi told the press.
Aimed to derail the Opposition's election machinery
His views were echoed by PKR vice president Chua Jui Meng, now in the midst of a red-hot campaign to wrest the Segamat seat in Johor from the BN.
"This is obviously a diabolical plot to get PAS grassroots upset and angry with PKR members. I am sure Umno is aware nobody believes in their outrageous videos but they want to create sour feeling amongst the Opposition members. And this is the time when our grassroots need to work together to get our election machinery running smoothly," Jui Meng told Malaysia Chronicle.
"This is another evil blow by Umno but I am very confident we will overcome. In fact, I expect that once the PAS and PKR grassroots realize the the truth they will get so angry they will double their efforts and work all the harder to topple Umno-BN."
Deluging the country with sex videos ahead of May 5 polls
The video showing the alleged PAS leader and the woman in what appears to be a hotel room first surfaced in several Umno blogs on Thursday.
Indeed, Umno blogger PapaGomo has been leading the charge, claiming that PKR paid the woman to entrap the PAS leader so as to gain an edge over the Islamic party during the ongoing Pakatan Rakyat negotiations for seats amongst PKR, PAS and DAP.
However, the Umno blogger's accusations do not appear to be sound and chances are the latest scheme of deluging the country with pornographic videos to help Umno-BN win the May 5 general election video will backfire.
As Rafizi pointed out, such videos were not spontaneous, requiring planning and heavy funding. The PKR leader also expressed concern as to who in the Pakatan leadership would be next.
"The whole scheme that involves manufacturing videos require significant funding. What is in every one's mind now - who is the financial backer for this scheme? It won't be long before we gather enough evidence to show connection with Umno," said Rafizi.
"The more they manufacture sex videos, the more Umno becomes so repulsive because people will blame Umno. It also vindicates PKR all this while when we reiterate to our partners that we must totally reject this smear culture brought by Umno because it wouldn't be long before they start attacking other PR leaders."
Fake
Meanwhile, PAS vice president Husam Musa has also condemned the video as a "fake".
"It can be made up. If they can make up videos involving (PKR de facto leader) Anwar Ibrahim, they can make up videos of anyone. I don't think PAS has to investigate this," Husam was reported as saying.
"The perpetrators will be punished by God (dilaknat) twice. In Islam, even if something is true, you cannot spread it around and shame people," said Husam, who will contest in the federal administrative capital. Only in Malaysia do we have these sex video issues. Here in Putrajaya, we stand for the rule of law. Those behind the video should be nabbed."
Coincidence or not, the police - whose political neutrality has been long been in doubt and questioned by the Opposition - have arrested two individuals claiming to be PKR members for allegedly distributing the video.
Worse to come as May 5 polling date nears
The use of gutter politicking has long been the bane of Malaysia's political landscape with Prime Minister Najib Razak's administration frequently blamed for using "sex sex sex" to smear and tarnish rival politicians in conservative and predominantly Muslim Malaysia.
Just weeks ago, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution had shocked the nation when he revealed threats by "Umno agents" to distribute sex videos of several top PKR leaders including Anwar, Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah and even caretaker Selangor Mentri Besar Khalid Ibrahim.
Anwar, the Opposition Leader, is expecting more trouble to come.
“I have received information from Prime Minister Najib Razak’s side, that in two more weeks there will be more trouble. His abuse and slander will be more fantastic, more terrible," Anwar told a ceramah (political rally) last week.
