Mustafa: I am not the man

PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali says the sex video was pure slander aimed at tarnishing his image.

PETALING JAYA: PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali has denied that he was the man featured in a sex video circulated by pro-Umno blogger.

Conveying this through his lawyer Asmuni Awi, Mustafa described the 11.26-minute video which came out last night as “pure slander to tarnish his image”.

“No, my client said he is not the man. And he doesn’t know the girl in the video,” Asmuni told FMT today.

He said his client was surprised that he has become the target of Umno.

“He told me he didn’t believe Umno will do such a thing because he should be the last person to be implicated in a sex video, because he is not standing in the general election,” he said.

Asmuni also expressed disbelief that the video was a plot hatched by PKR de factor leader Anwar Ibrahim because of Mustafa’s support for Umno-PAS unity talks.

“Mustafa has little interest politically,” he said.

Mustafa has issued a one-paragraph statement through party organ Harakah, saying that he would allow his lawyer to handle the case.

“I would not entertain any queries on the issue. I will let my lawyer to handle it completely,” he said.

Meanwhile, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang also doubted the authenticity of the video.

“Nowadays you can make up all sorts of things,” he told reporters after attending a function today.

He said PAS would not hold a meeting to discuss the video and PAS would emerge stronger after the incident.

“Once the people know that this is not true, PAS status would be enhanced,” he said.
