A 1Malaysia Charity Dinner was held on April 22, 2013 at D’Piazza Mall, Bayan Baru, Penang.
The 8-course Chinese sit-down dinner, saw 200 tables while there were about 20 tables for non-halal food.
It was not a walk-in free dinner but it was a free dinner through invitation card.
The invitation card stated that the dinner was organised by the United South-West District Residents Association of Penang in conjunction with their 21st anniversary.
There were plenty of good food, with free flow of Carlsberg and Guiness Stout.
Two ‘lions’ were at the entrace to greet diners as they walked in.
Before the dinner began, committee members distributed lucky draw coupons, 1Malaysia T-shirts and 1Malaysia aprons.
Some leaders of the association made speeches during the dinner in Mandarin and Bahasa.
A few Chinese ladies singers entertained the crowd while they dined and chatted.
The top 3 prizes for the lucky draw were two motorbikes and a Samsung Galaxy III handphone. Other prizes included electrical items like micro-wave oven, food chopper, juicer, DVD player.

Those who win the lucky draw had to put on the 1Malaysia t-shirt. Most of them, like this man, only donned the t-shrt when walking up the stage to collect the prize.
Lucky draw winners are then requested to draw the coupon for the next draw.
