The fairer sex find UMNO's 'porn-litics' REVOLTING
The current campaign of sleaze by Barisan Nasional through the use of pornography has shocked women of all ages, and many have come out to reject such vile campaigns.
PAS-backed young women's movement Ameerah, describing the trend as immoral, said endorsement of such campaigns was a reflection of society's moral degeneration.
Anis Afida Mod Azli, who heads Ameerah's Southern zone, said the current practice of using smut to drive home a political message was undignified.
“Politicians are supposed to fight each other on the platform of ideas, and compete to benefit people, which is very different fron what we are seeing today, where a political rival is attacked through defamation and evil ploys,” Anis, who will be contesting the Pengerang parliamentary seat in Johor, told Harakahdaily.
Last week, several pro-UMNO blogs continued their use of smut for campaigning by accusing PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali of illicit sex. They also uploaded a video clip showing a man resembling Mustafa in a tryst with an unknown woman. Mustafa has strongly denied the accusation.
In the past, other Pakatan Rakyat leaders had also been subjected to such tactics, most notably opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
UMNO had since attempted to distance itself from the bloggers, and even threatened to sue Harakahdaily for publishing a report quoting Mustafa about UMNO's involvement.
Meanwhile, a leading motivational speaker has appealed to all quarters against employing pornography in their GE campaign.
Commenting on her Facebook, Dr Muhaya Mohomad said it was important that children and youth be shielded from such materials.
While Selangor's caretaker Exco for Education, Dr Halimah Ali, urged BN workers to repent.
She said it was shameful that those calling themselves Muslims were indulging in smut when non-Muslims have not been resorting to such strategies to win the people's hearts.
