The Election Commission has been urged to make a stand following the two-hour long live broadcast of the launching of BN's manifesto last Saturday through public-funded government channel RTM.
“I want the EC chief's view on the two-hour live telecast of BN’s manifesto. EC must act fairly and needs to make a stand immediately,” said PAS information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man as quoted by Sinar Harian.
EC had earlier spoke out against Pakatan Rakyat for refusing RTM’s offer of a mere 10 minutes' airtime for a pre-recorded presentation of each political party's manifesto.
PR leaders had described the allocation as ridiculous and an insult to democracy.
The live telecast of BN's manifesto presentation violated several rules set by EC as well as the Information, Communication and Culture ministry, which had stated that the manifesto presentation must be pre-recorded.
