(Bernama) -  Nazri had said that the ministry had made a firm stand to take back the land as it was its rightful owner.
The MCA has urged the Tourism and Culture Ministry to reconsider its plan to take back part of the land in Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Chin Woo, Pudu for the construction of the Kota Warisan project.

Its deputy president, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the ministry's plan to use 1,393.55 sq meters of the 0.81ha school land for the construction the Seri Melayu Restaurant had been opposed by various quarters, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the school's board of directors.

"The land sought for the project was the site of a newly completed basketball court.

"If the land is taken away, it will not only disrupt lessons but also shrink the school's area," he told reporters after visiting the school here yesterday.

Liow, who met the school's board of directors, said he would meet Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz and Prime Minister Najib Razak on the matter soon.

The RM32.5 Kota Warisan is a cultural village project approved in concept by the cabinet in 2007 and it involves the building of an auditorium, a six-storey complex and a restaurant on 3.24ha of land.

Nazri had said that the ministry had made a firm stand to take back the land as it was its rightful owner.
