JOKE & SHAME ON CHEATING BN, yet Shabery has cheek to mock White House for reinstating Anwar petition

JOKE & SHAME ON CHEATING BN, yet Shabery has cheek to mock White House for reinstating Anwar petition
KUALA LUMPUR - The White House's decision to reinstate an online petition seeking Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's freedom after mistakenly taking it down is a “big joke” and an embarrassment for the US, a Malaysian minister said today.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek claimed that it is impossible for the White House with its state-of-the-art information technology system to commit such a mistake.
“All IT experts know this is could not possibly happen. This is a big joke that shames a superpower that has the best IT experts,” he said in a post on his official Facebook page.
“Are they writing the same story to enable them to interfere in conflicts in Vietnam, in Afghanistan, in Iraq, in Libya and wherever,” he added.
Earlier today, the White House said in a statement that it had mistakenly taken down an online petition on its website seeking its intervention on Anwar's incarceration for sodomy, after it detected a “high number” of fraudulent signatures on a petition related to the opposition leader.
It was later discovered that the “anomalous signatures” were on a counter-petition against the call for US interference in Anwar's case.
Both petitions have since been reinstated, though some 60,000 fraudulent signatures were removed from the counter-petition, titled “Respecting the Sovereign Nation of Malaysia”.
Shabery today warned that the decision to reinstate the pro-Anwar petition, “Make the Release of Malaysian Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim from Prison a Top Priority for US Policy Toward Malaysia”, is merely an excuse for the US to interfere with Malaysian affairs.
“The script is to uphold democracy. Purportedly at the request of that country's own citizens. On the pretext that there is a petition and there are those holding street demonstrations demanding that they come.
“They don't care that their credibility is tainted as long as they achieve their goals. They don't care that in all the countries they interfere in peace and democracy do not thrive, instead chaos and destruction await.
“If this happens, Malaysia will no longer be the same. If this happens do not only blame the superpower, but (also) the lackeys who reached out their hand inviting the giant into our backyard,” the Umno minister said.
The pro-Anwar petition, launched by former US ambassador to Malaysia John R. Malott, is seeking the US administration headed by President Barack Obama to prioritise the release of Anwar in the superpower’s policy towards Malaysia.
The Federal Court on February 10 upheld the Court of Appeal’s decision to convict Anwar and jail him for five years for sodomising his former political aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan. - Malay Mail
