Former Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) Abdul Khalid Ibrahim lied in his claims that Selangor has issued an operating licence for clean water to Splash (Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor), said top management of the water concessionaire.
“We can confirm that Splash has not been issued with an operating licence by the state. That power lies with Span (Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara) actually,” Wong Mun Keong, a director of The Sweetwater Alliance, told KiniBiz.
Khalid made the claims yesterday in a media statement.
The former menteri besar said that by granting a licence to Splash, the state administration (headed by his successor Azmin Ali) is going against the spirit of Selangor’s water restructuring plans.
“With respect to his information from reliable sources that Splash has been given licence for clean water - whatever that means - we ourselves have heard of no such thing.
Therefore, we respectfully advise Khalid that he should be more circumspect with his sources before relying on them in future,” Splash chairperson Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah told KiniBiz.
Besides slamming Selangor administration for granting Splash with a water licence, Khalid also criticised Selangor’s water concessionaires for being greedy and “milking sinful profits” at the expense of public interest. - M'kini
