The lawmaker, who is on the way to Kota Baru, Kelantan, had tweeted earlier: "4 policemen at home. Unfortunately otw to KB. There's alr appt at IPD Dang Wangi 16th March. Don't understand why harshness reqd" (sic).
Her mother and PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail also tweeted, "Polis nak tangkap Nurul Izzah pula? Petang ini empat anggota polis datang ke rumah…tapi Izzah ke Kelantan..mungkin esok".
(Now police want to arrest Nurul Izzah as well? This afternoon there were four policemen at the house…but Izzah has gone to Kelantan..maybe tomorrow.)
Nurul Izzah is scheduled to give her statement to the police on March 16 over the #KitaLawan rally to free Anwar last Saturday. She is being investigated under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
The MP confirmed to the media that she was under investigation on March 7, the day of the rally itself, after the demonstration in the heart of Kuala Lumpur ended with participants marching to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC).
"I received a love letter... Checks showed that I am being investigated under the Peaceful Assembly Act, the same Act that (PKR Youth head) Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad had challenged and won. My appointment is on March 16," she told reporters then.
PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil today confirmed that Nurul Izzah was not taken into custody but said it was not clear what the police had come her house for.
To date, five members of the opposition have been investigated over the #KitaLawan rally.
PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, also a lawmaker, party central committee member Mohd Fariz Musa and Kelana Jaya PKR Youth leader Saifullah Zulkifli have been remanded for more than a day for police investigations into the demonstration.
Party secretary-general Rafizi Ramli was also questioned over the rally, and PAS Youth treasurer Mohd Fakhrul Razi was detained.
Human rights lawyers have said that police were abusing remand powers to intimidate citizens by holding the opposition leaders for more than a day over alleged crimes that did not involve violence or murder.
Nik Nazmi was remanded for three days and is challenging the magistrate's order to hold him for more than a day.
