The thought of how Putrajaya treats Sabah as a "stepchild" occasionally drives Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) to flirt with the idea of Sabah's secession.
He said this while raising the issue of housing allowances for civil servants during the debate on the motion of thanks for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's speech today.
Bung Mokhtar said that civil servants from Peninsula Malaysia but serving in Sabah receive much higher allowances than the locals.
"We feel like a stepchild. This is why there is a secession movement to bring Sabah out of Malaysia.
"Sometimes, I feel obliged to side them. But, I think that is a different story," he said. - M'kini
