A man to be sentenced for armed robbery makes a dash for it but is apprehended near the gate of the court complex.
GEORGE TOWN: Too fearful at having to hear what his sentence for armed robbery would be, Muhamad Elias Muhamed Yusoff made a dash for the door just before the sessions judge could deliver his verdict.
In the 10.10am incident, Muhamad Elias ran past the door and down two flights of stairs as a policeman gave chase, causing quite a commotion at the court complex, the New Straits Times reported.
Quick on his feet, the policeman was able to apprehend the man on the ground floor near the gate of the court complex. Several others who saw what was happening also helped stop the man from escaping.
Muhamad Elias was then dragged back into court to hear his sentence delivered my Sessions Judge Zulhazmi Abdullah.
