Anwar has message for feuding PR allies

He has also personal messages for Lim Kit Siang and Abdul Hadi Awang.
Anwar
KUALA LUMPUR: Jailed de facto Opposition Chief Anwar Ibrahim, in a message conveyed through Padang Serai MP N Surendran, has expressed concern on developments in Pakatan Rakyat, the informal opposition alliance. Surendran reportedly met with Anwar at Sungei Buloh Prison on Monday “to consult on legal matters”.
Anwar, according to Surendran, also sent separate personal messages to DAP elder statesman Lim Kit Siang and newly reelected PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang.
The MP reproduced Anwar’s message in a statement for the media:
“I am concerned with recent events affecting Pakatan Rakyat, which was formed as an alternative to the failed political system and poor governance under the Barisan Nasional (BN),” said Anwar in his message. “I regret that a resolution to sever ties with the DAP was accepted at the PAS muktamar.”
“I urge our political ally PAS to review that resolution which was passed without debate, and meanwhile not to implement it.”
The DAP, added Anwar, has long been friend and comrade, committed to the great struggle for change. “I know too that the DAP stands with us in our endeavour to ensure PR remains viable and united as an alternative to the people.”
Under the BN, charged Anwar, the situation was increasingly dire. “The rakyat are now further oppressed by GST and the massive 1MDB losses, while racial and religious polemics show no signs of abating.”
It is the great hope of the rakyat, continued Anwar, that Pakatan Rakyat will march forward to resolve the political uncertainty and economic troubles that plague the country under the rule of the BN.
