In a post on the official Facebook page of the Johor Football team, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said: "How can you have a dialogue called ‘Nothing2Hide’ featuring a person who has everything to hide? Obviously he won't show up."
The posting went on to say that those entrusted with responsibility should not blame the people for lost confidence.
"For those who have been entrusted with the responsibility, do not blame the people for losing confidence and trust in you, but think of why they no longer have the confidence and trust in you."
The posting on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page has garnered over 11,000 likes and was shared by more than 2,000 at press time.
Najib was scheduled to attend the event but backed outon the advice of the inspector-general of police who said the decision was made on the grounds of "public order and national harmony".
The conference was organised by NGO SukaGuam.
Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad also turned up.
The event was postponed and Dr Mahathir took to the stage before police stoppedhim from addressing more than 1,000 people who turned up.
