Newly appointed as PNB chief, Syed Ali joins Najib chorus - Justo's arrest proves 1MDB used to topple PM

The truth on state investment fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) is now out: the facts surrounding 1MDB were deliberately distorted.

This comes with the arrest of former PetroSaudi International Ltd executive Xavier Justo, who was detained for allegedly extorting money and leaking information on 1MDB, Cheras Umno division chief Syed Ali Alhabshee said today.

“1MDB was purposely used to bring down Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak,” Syed Ali wrote in his blog posting.

He said several quarters, the opposition in particular, had strategically distorted facts on 1MDB from non-authentic sources.

“1MDB is being used as a weapon to bring down the prime minister and tarnish the Barisan Nasional government’s image,” he said.

Justo, who was arrested on Tuesday by the Thai police, is alleged to have leaked information to the London-based Sarawak Report website for several of its reports on 1MDB.

However, Justo denied these allegations.

Syed Ali went on to say that on the social media, these false reports had been the basis to link Najib and 1MDB.

“They (Sarawak Report) received wrong information but they have published it widely, with the aim to put pressure on the prime minister.

“It is now proven that the slander thrown at the prime minister, linking him with 1MDB, is unfounded,” Syed Ali said. - M'kini
