PM unhappy with my stand, says IGP
Pemerhati: This inspector-general of police (IGP) lied blatantly in the Aminulrasyid Amzah case when he was Selangor police chief. That must have been one of the important factors that resulted in him being made the IGP.
True to his character, the IGP continues to lie in this case. The first lie was when he cooked up the story about the security threat and cancelled the Nothing2Hide dialogue session. Then he continued lying by cooking up another story about PM Najib Razak being disappointed about the cancellation.
It is very obvious to most people that Najib did not turn up because he got cold feet when former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad showed up. Now Najib’s underlings, like the IGP and those in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), are cooking up more lies to explain Najib’s cowardly behaviour.
Shockingly, what all this proves and illustrates is that the prime minister and his very top officers have no principles and are capable of lying blatantly.
In future when the PM and the top government officials say anything, the first question that will come to mind will be, “Is this another lie”?
Wg321: The IGP can say what he likes to defend Najib. With his track record, nobody will believe him.
Najib's brain simply does not have enough RAM (Random Access Memory) to compete with Mahathir’s. Mahathir has all the facts and figures at his fingertip, especially on the 1MDB issue, whereas Najib depends on his army of overpaid consultants to help him.
He dare not debate with former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, how then to debate with Mahathir? Obviously he must have told the IGP to cancel the event at the last minute and then he pretended to play the victim.
Saphire: If Najib can appear in front of thousands of people in Sabah and Sarawak without having to worry about security, how can it be a problem for him to face 2,000 people making up mainly of educated people, including Mahathir?
This shows how incompetent IGP Khalid Abu Bakar is. Our police can protect big names like Barack Obama, Xi Jinping and other world figures, and yet not capable of protecting Najib from the likes of Mahathir and journalists. Amusing, isn't it?
Odin Tajué: PM unhappy? Rubbish. Khalid, I am sure many Malaysians are not as stupid as you obviously think. The plain, simple truth is obvious - you lie to make Najib look good. In actuality, perhaps he ordered you to do what you did.

Anyway, I have never seen the PM addresses pressing matters before the press. FAOs (frequently-asked questions) and pre-recorded interviews, yes, but never live.
I didn’t expect the PM to attend this function anyway, what more with the presence of Mahathir. I think the PM is probably even afraid of his own shadow.

Why was there no mention about security when Najib was mingling with the massive crowd in Sabah and Sarawak, this despite the repeated occurrence of kidnapping incidents?
Just one other thing, IGP, according to the organisers, Mahathir wasn't invited. Why don't you put him under arrest for intrusion? Is this another case of separate laws for different people?
FairMind: The IGP’s vocabulary is confined to these two - national security and sedition. Even with this limited vocabulary, he cannot be original.
Every reason given by him is either national security or sedition. Peace dialogue, harmless cartoons, peaceful gathering, candlelight vigil, pesky journalists and bloggers and water agreements are either national security or sedition.
But when things are really national security and sedition, he is apt to ignore. He would have been sacked a long time ago if not for him for doing the dirty work and watching Najib’s back.
Vijay47: This is what I call real heroism and sacrifice of an officer and perhaps a gentleman. Despite knowing that he would be the target of widespread ridicule, Khalid bit the bullet and took the brave, unpopular but correct decision to call off the Nothing2Hide dialogue.
Others may cruelly allege that Khalid simply saved Najib's hide from a sound hiding, but the truth is more altruistic, what is of paramount importance is the prime minister's safety and security, though I am still trying to figure out the ‘harmony’ bit.
Well done, Khalid, we need more IGPs like you, not just for protection of our leaders but also as fodder for comments inMalaysiakini.
