Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has denied asking Beijing to help convince Malaysian Chinese to support BN.
Tengku Adnan, better known as Ku Nan, blamed the Chinese press for misinterpreting him, reported Sin Chew Daily today.
Sin Chew on Tuesday reported the minister urging Beijing to help educate Chinese Malaysians about BN's five-decade contribution to the community.
This provoked Seputeh MP Teresa Kok to criticise Tengku Adnan for seeking the help of a foreign government to garner votes.
However, Tengku Adnan said his speech during the launch of the China-Malaysia Friendship Park in Putrajaya was directed at the Malaysia-China Friendship Association and not Beijing.
Tengku Adnan explained he had merely urged the association to support BN as the Chinese community has made many achievements under the ruling coalition's watch. - M'kini
