Hu, who co-founded the PAS supporters congress for non-Muslims back in 2004, said that the ulamas are "self destructing the party".
"The problem is the young ulama (who have taken over the party). The party has deviated from its path and is destroying all that it has achieved," he was quoted as saying in the report.
The congress was upgraded as a fourth wing for PAS in 2010, but Hu left his position as the wing's chief in 2014 after becoming highly critical of PAS leadership following the Selangor Menteri Besar crisis.
His departure from the party comes shortly after the party progressives who lost in the PAS Muktamar recently decided to form a new movement called Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB), seen as a precursor of a new party.
The party is expected to be formed by the end of this year, and Hu was reportedly coy on whether he is joining GHB.
Hu's announcement comes shortly after one of the progressive leaders, Mujahid Yusof Rawa, claimed that the congress is rethinking its position in the party following PAS's decision to cut ties with DAP and the collapse of Pakatan Rakyat.
"The progressive leaders of the party were the ones who encouraged and pushed for interactions between the different communities. Now that we are out, who is doing that work?
"This is why the supporters' wing is feeling insecure about its position," said Mujahid.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali recently said that PAS would field non-Muslims in DAP seats following the collapse of Pakatan Rakyat.
But Mujahid had questioned the identity of these candidates.
Since 2014, PAS has steadfastly pursued its Hudud agenda, a move that many claim had alienated non-Muslims from the party.
Hu also reportedly said that while PAS's ideals remain the same, it has strayed from its "PAS for all" slogan which was used during the general election.
