Ali Tinju: Tomorrow’s Malay rally is 99% on

He says the purpose is to demand equal rights for all races to trade in Petaling Street.

PETALING JAYA: There’s a 99% chance that Malays will gather in a protest in the Petaling Street area tomorrow, according to the President of the Malay Armed Forces Veterans Association, Mohd Ali Baharom, better known as Ali Tinju.

“The Malay warriors will be there,” he said in an interview with the news blog Antarapos today.

He said the purpose of the gathering was to pressure the authorities to “give equal rights to all traders, with no differentiation between races.”

“We don’t want to see one race monopolising the area,” he said. “The area should be shared by Malays, Indians and Chinese to suit the concept of 1Malaysia.”

He said his group would not bow “to any pressure from anyone” to cancel the rally.

“It’s not anyone’s right to question the Red Movement,” he said. “It will continue, regardless of demands from the authorities or any other party.”
