The National Mosque imam was slapped during Friday prayers today. – The Malaysian Insider filepic, September 18, 2015.The Friday prayers at the National Mosque in Kuala Lumpur were interrupted today after an Arab-looking man slapped the mosque's Imam, Mohd Zuhairee Mohd Yatim, while the later was reciting prayers.
Witnesses said that the incident happened when prayers were under way and the imam was reading the Al-Fatihah prayers, when the man approached the imam and slapped him in the face.
He also grabbed hold of the loudhailer and and repeatedly shouted "You go back!" at the imam.
The video of the chaos that ensued following the incident is now viral on social media, while the man reportedly has been arrested by the police.
The imam himself had confirmed the incident.
