Apology after former Playboy Bunny protests against use of her photo on Amanah political poster
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malacca youth wing of Parti Amanah Negara has been caught using a photograph of former Playboy bunny and model Felixia Yeap for political propaganda in an anti-racism poster.
The youth wing apologised to Yeap, who has converted to Islam, and acknowledged that the anti-racism posted was created by its IT team.
Yeap had posted an angry response to the use of an image of her clad in a tudung with the words “I am Felixia. I am Chinese and I am Muslim” on an anti-racism poster by Amanah.
She demanded that the poster be removed, saying she did not want her picture or her name used for political purposes, and stated “Your desperation makes you look pathetic”.
Later in the day, Adeysham Nor, communications director of Malacca Amanah Youth, tendered an apology on her Facebook page.
“Malacca Amanah Youth takes note of the Anti-Racist Poster issue that used a photo of Felixia @ Raisyya Rania. We admit the poster was made and issued by our IT Team which is under the supervision of the Communications Director, Malacca Amanah Youth,” he said according to Malay Mail Online.
“We openly apologise to Felixia for the matter and promise to be more careful in producing future advertisements, posters and et cetera,” he wrote, and acknowledged not having obtained her approval for using the image.
Adysham promised that a 1,000 members of Amanah’s online activists, the “Orange Army” as he called them, would track down and remove the poster.
