Dr M in the house, pro-Najib portal zooms in on pink attire

UMNO AGM | Unfazed by warnings that he would be heckled and jeered, Dr Mahathir Mohamad turned up for the Umno general assembly today.

The former prime minister and his wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, arrived at the Putra World Trade Centre around 8.30am.

The 90-year-old, who has been on the warpath against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, was greeted with cheers and cries of “Hidup Tun!”.

His supporters also belted out the patriotic song, “Inilah Barisan Kita”.

Reporting on his presence at the annual meet, a pro-Najib portal focused on his attire.

“Contradictory to the call by supporters of Muhyiddin Yassin to wear blue as a sign of solidarity, Mahathir himself wore a pink outfit,” saidMyKMU.net.

His attendance is bound to create an awkward situation, since he has repeatedly called on Najib to step down and in return, courted criticism from various Umno leaders.

Also attending the event are MCA president Liow Tiong Lai and MIC president Dr S Subramaniam.

In a blog post last night, Mahathir, who led Umno for more than two decades, once again fired salvos at the prime minister.

He claimed that Najib had tried to bribe him and argued it is Najib, and not he, who has smeared the nation’s image. -Mkini
