The police have arrested two suspects over the assault of MIC deputy president SK Devamany at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur last Thursday.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Zainuddin Ahmad said the suspects, aged 28 and 29, were held in Jalan Ampang at about 4am today.
"They are being held under remand for two days from today to help in the investigation. We will conduct an identification parade tomorrow," he said in a statement.
He said the police did not rule out the possibility of Devamany having been assaulted over the recent MIC elections.
MIC president S Subramaniam yesterday urged the police to immediately find out the mastermind behind the assault of Devamany.
