The centralised air-conditioning system at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Segamat Hospital, which malfunctioned since last Jan 9, has been repaired .
Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam said the air-conditioning system at the NICU of the hospital was now functioning following repair and maintenance work.
“To ensure the safety, comfort and best health care for patients, the ministry and the hospital management always take proactive measures to address any technical or maintenance issues at government hospitals,” he said in a statement in Putrajaya today.
He said following report on the faulty air-conditioning system, the ministry took immediate action by installing two mobile air-conditioning units, as well as took measures to reduce the risk of infection.
