Selangor DAP says Amanah should be grateful for the eight local council seats they got and to leave discussions about adjustments for later.
SHAH ALAM: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) should be grateful for being given eight local council seats, said Selangor DAP vice chairman Teng Chang Kim today.
Teng told FMT that the eight seats were reserved for Amanah.
“The state government decided to give the seats to the party. The total number of 288 seats, minus the nine allocated for Orang Besar Daerah and eight for Amanah, are split between PKR, DAP and PAS which makes up the state government.
“Amanah should be grateful that we gave them eight seats first, the rest can be discussed later. Better eight than nothing,” he told FMT when at his office today.
Teng, who is the exco in charge of Investment, Industry (SME) & Commerce and Transportation, said that Amanah would have to wait for the coming term to change the local council seat count.
According to him, the state government was willing to abide by Amanah’s decision, should the latter choose to reject the seats given.
Amanah has voiced dissatisfaction over being allocated only eight local council seats by the Selangor government when they had initially requested for at least 24.
