Selangor PAS today dismissed speculations over Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali's alleged ultimatum for its three state executive councilors to resign if the Islamist party insists on fielding its candidate in the upcoming Sungai Besar by-election.
Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad told reporters what had transpired during their meeting with Azmin on Wednesday was "not important".
"What is important is his (Azmin's) announcement that PAS will remain as part of the state administration," said Iskandar, citing Azmin's denial of the matter.
He also said Selangor PAS has left the issue to the party's central leaders to handle.
Iskandar was speaking in Shah Alam after launching the state's water conservation campaign for low-cost public housing projects.
The Star on Thursday quoted sources saying Azmin had issued the three PAS state exco members an ultimatum to resign from their positions by Monday.
Azmin on the same day denied the report.
"Don't jump to conclusions,” Azmin reportedly said when asked whether PAS would remain in the state administration if it contests the seat.
The Star's article also reported PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang instructing the three party exco members to remain in their posts, purportedly during an emergency meeting held at his residence in Terengganu on Wednesday night.

Iskandar, however, refused to confirm what had transpired during the meeting with Hadi or whether it had even taken place.
"I never made any statement...That (meeting), you have to ask The Star," he said.
Aside from Iskandar, the two other PAS Selangor excos are Taman Templer assemblyperson Zaidy Abdul Talib and Sijangkang assemblyperson Ahmad Yunus Hairi. -Mkini
