I will not contest in by-election, says Jamal Yunos

Red Shirts leader says he will work to ensure the Barisan Nasional candidate for the Sungai Besar seat wins with a bigger majority.
Jamal-YunosPETALING JAYA : Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos has no interest in contesting the Sungai Besar parliamentary seat in the upcoming by-election.
In a statement today, the controversial figure reiterated his stand and pledged to work with the Sungai Besar BN machinery to ensure that whoever ran under the BN banner would win with a bigger majority.
He hoped that his statement today would end all speculation about his possible candidacy in the by-election.
“What matters now is to focus on mobilising a more matured BN machinery to face the Opposition’s attack,” he said.
Jamal, who is linked to the controversial Red Shirts movement, was one of those touted as a candidate for the Sungai Besar seat in Selangor, following the demise of its previous MP, Noriah Kasnon, in a helicopter crash in Sarawak earlier this month.
Last month, Jamal was barred from entering Sarawak.
