PKR to decide if it'll sue Sarawak gov’t tomorrow

PKR will decide whether it will take legal action against the Sarawak government over the entry ban of the party’s leaders tomorrow.
Confirming the matter, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said it will be discussed at the party's political bureau meeting tomorrow night.
“Priority remains on our local candidates and their well-being rather than hurt pride on our side.
“We want them to be able to fully receive our presence and support during campaigning,” she told Malaysiakini.
The Lembah Pantai lawmaker was among those barred from entering Sarawak during the campaign period of the state polls on Saturday.
This was despite the PKR leader's written request to the state government after Sarawak then caretaker Chief Minister Adenan Satem said he would consider letting her in should she and her mother, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail ask "politely".
More than 40 opposition lawmakers, activists and academicians were similarly barred from entering the state.
Sarawak PKR deputy youth chief Simon Siah earlier said the party was considering taking legal action against the Sarawak government for barring opposition lawmakers from entering the state.

Siah, who is part of the state PKR's legal bureau, said the party would however wait until the election was over before taking matters to court.
In 2012, then electoral watchdog Bersih chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan failed to secure leave to challenge the Sarawak immigration ban against her.
The Federal Court dismissed her appeal after ruling that she should have filed her application at the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak.
However, Ambiga said she could not file her case at the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak as she is banned from entering, and would not be able to attend proceedings or meet her lawyers there. -Mkini
