The police have arrested two individuals, one of them a Nigerian, for their alleged involvement in a 'romance scam' in Damansara Damai, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed the arrests through his official Twitter today.
It was learnt that the scam members had targeted local women through the social media and offered relationships before duping them by asking for money.
Khalid said the duo were arrested by the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID).
With the arrests, the police have solved 14 such cases, he said.
"Well done CCID @RMP for nabbing Romance Scam (members) in Damansara Damai yesterday and arrested two individuals (one Nigerian), solving 14 cases linked to #GoRMPGo," Khalid tweeted.
