Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said he will recommend that both suspended deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah menteri besar Muhkriz Mahathir be sacked from the party.
Met at the sidelines of the parliament sitting this morning, Tengku Adnan said he would put forth his suggestion to the Umno supreme council, which is slated to meet at the end of the month.
"To me, I would want to sack them," he said when quizzed on his stand regarding the rebel pair.
"We already have the reports on Muhyiddin and Mukhriz. The disciplinary board has passed it back to the supreme council to decide," he added.
However, it appears that former minister Mohd Shafie Apdal might escape the axe.
Quizzed on his position, Tengku Adnan said: "According to the report we received, he (Shafie) does not stand together with the opposition."
"There are some problems (with Shafie), but some leeway (can be extended) and something we can consider is who has stood on the opposition stage," he explained.
