How not to pack light, and yet still travel in style

YOURSAY | ‘Rosmah should not have chartered an aircraft solely for receiving an award.’
Kimquek: PM’s wife Rosmah Mansor’s aide Rizal Mansor seems to be scrapping the bottom of the barrel to cook up stories to justify the 20 or so bags that followed Rosmah into the Airbus cabin.
The bags are obviously Rosmah’s as they arrived together with her and were carried up to the cabin by ground officers and workers (some bags were lifted directly from Rosmah’s limousine, indicating that all these bags might not have undergone the compulsory security checks).
It is simply ridiculous to suggest that these travelling bags had to go to Rosmah’s cabin due to the cargo section being filled with Permata performers’ costumes and props as these pre-school kids could have left in another flight, and their tiny costumes could not have been that bulky anyway.
The million-dollar questions still remain: Why were the bags not loaded in the cargo section? Why did Rosmah need to carry so many bags with her for a three-day trip? Were all the bags subject to the usual compulsory security checks? What were inside the bags?
Incidentally, why didn’t Rosmah fly directly to and from Istanbul, instead of a lengthy stop-over in UAE since she justified her use of the chartered luxurious Airbus on ground of being on a tight schedule?
In view of widespread public suspicion of the nature of her voluminous personal cargo, she must also give an account of what exactly transpired in UAE during the stopover on May 25 from 8am to 1pm.
Senior Citizen: Rosmah is treated as a VVIP by the ministers and her hangers-on. Those who were travelling with Rosmah would have seated in the plane and had their luggage on board while waiting for her arrival.
It is obvious that all the bags that came with Rosmah belonged to her.
Samu: Yes, the luggage came off Rosmah's limousine. She couldn't be carrying the luggage of the other passengers, could she?
On the need to change clothes on a long journey: well, it’s not exactly that she was "flying" in a Titanic that would take weeks to arrive in Istanbul. Then again, don't underestimate the power of stupidity in politics.
RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: Whatever the excuses given, Rosmah should not have chartered an aircraft solely for the purpose of receiving an award.
Najib and Rosmah are drunk with luxuries and do not feel for the poor. Prices have gone up by so much that many are finding hard to make ends meet.
Even the lowly kembung cost more than RM10 a kilo. Very often housewives purchase two or three fish only. The days of buying in a kilo or two are gone.
And, while the poor housewives are tightening their belts just to put two square meals, Rosmah sees it fit to travel in style. Doesn't she think it is sinful to waste such money?
Anonymous 1890491455255851: I think you miss the point, Rizal. She is the PM's wife and obviously not travelling on government business (unless you know something that we don't).
This country is lacking in so many proper public facilities and the PM told us that GST (Goods and Services Tax) saved us from economic doom.
So imagine how we feel when we see his wife travelling on a private jet to events clearly of no importance to the nation, but seemingly more of an indulgence that has become a necessity when it comes to her and her husband.
Stop asking the people what we can do for the country but start showing us what you, the government, can start doing for us.
Mosquitobrain: You don't need a private jet to carry 13 passengers and seven crews to accompany the PM’s wife to Istanbul just to collect some valueless papers.
One can care for the unfortunate children in many ways. Clearly, not jetting around and spending taxpayers' money doing unproductive chores.
Nafraid: Rizal is trying to justify the indefensible wastage of public funds to fly the PM's wife and her entourage for a relatively unimportant event in Istanbul at a time when the vast majority of Malaysians are reeling from the increased cost of living and making adjustments to make ends meet.
It is grossly indecent and extremely insensitive of the PM's Office to even try to justify the tens of thousands spent on a single trip. How disgusting.
NNFC: The people will ultimately believe what it chooses. Will the people believe whether the current government is abusing the people's money and spending like it is their own money?
The people have a right to choose what to believe, and they will decide who will form the next government.
Hopeful123: Why does Rizal even bother trying to explain the details of the aircraft?
The crux of the matter is that nobody agrees with the whole trip, which is a blatant waste of rakyat’s hard-earned money. Why don't you understand that? Is it so difficult?

Jaycee: So, taxpayers paid for an additional 12 people just for one person to receive an award. No matter how you explain it, the taxpayers are the one being screwed.- Mkini
