K KANGSAR POLLS Prime Minister's wife Rosmah Mansor did not have a say in the Kuala Kangsar candidate selection, as implied by PKR, said Rosmah's aide Rizal Mansor.
He stressed that Rosmah has no position in Umno and BN.
PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli said there is speculation Mastura Mohd Yazid was selected to contest on BN's ticket in Kuala Kangsar without Umno grassroots support due to Rosmah's influence.
"Datin Mastura is BN's candidate selected by the BN leadership. Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has no position in the party.
"Why is Rafizi relying on Rosmah to gain popularity?" Rizal (photo) asked, when met by Malaysiakini in Kuala Kangsar.
Rafizi had said Mastura and Rosmah are both from Negri Sembilan, but admitted he had no further information on this.
He also demanded that Mastura take a stand on Rosmah's use of the government-chartered private jet and the government allocation for Rosmah.
Rafizi said Mastura should be able to debate the matter when Pakatan Harapan MPs table a motion on this in Parliament, if she is elected into the Dewan Rakyat.
Mastura faces PAS' Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad, Amanah's Ahmad Termizi Ramli and independent candidate Izat Bukhari Ismail Bukhari at the June 18 polls.
The by-election was triggered upon the death of Mastura's husband Wan Mohammad Khair-il Annuar Wan Ahmad in a helicopter crash on May 5, during the Sarawak polls campaign.
Kuala Kangsar has 32,949 registered voters of which 22,496 are Malays, 7,757 Chinese, 2,287 Indians, 330 Orang Ali and 29 Sarawak and Sabah bumiputera.- Mkini
