Education Ministry to probe milk incident at Segamat school

The Education Ministry will liaise closely with the Health Ministry to investigate a case where a 12 year old pupil suffered health complications after drinking milk provided by her school in Segamat.
Education Deputy Minister P Kamalanathan said his ministry would get to the bottom of the matter as the doctor currently treating Saziila Anuar had recommended that her left foot be amputated as a result of 'health complications'.
"The ministry will seek clarification from the state education department and wait for the latest report on the matter," he told reporters after a press conference on the 'Million Dollar Feet' programme in Kuala Lumpur today.

Earlier, it was reported that Saziila was warded at the Segamat Hospital on July 27, due to fever and complains of stomach pain after drinking the milk provided by her school.
While undergoing treatment at the hospital, she suddenly went into a coma. When Saziila regained consciousness, her left foot turned black and the doctor advised her parents that the leg be amputated.
The parents however, disagreed with the doctor's opinion.
On a fake racist Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) question which had gone viral in the social media recently, Kamalanathan said feedback from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission would be received within two weeks.
