KUCHING — Sarawak chief minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said Umno would not be allowed to enter the state so long as he is the chief minister.
Despite his allegedly close relationship with Umno, Abang Johari said in a press conference after witnessing the swearing-in ceremony of his cabinet members at the state legislative assembly building that he would not allow Umno to gain a foothold in Sarawak.
He said Sarawak would continue to cooperate under the BN spirit but it would not be necessary for Umno to come to Sarawak.
Abang Johari also said all Sarawak BN leaders would continue to defend the rights of the people of the state in fulfilling the pledges made during last year’s state election.
“We will pursue what has been done by Adenan Satem and continue to fulfill the promises he made.”
