Declare allegiance to Johor sultan or Dr M, Muhyiddin challenged

An Umno leader has challenged Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Muhyiddin Yassin to declare his loyalty to the ruler of his homestate of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, or former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
As a Johorean, Deputy Transport Minister Abdul Aziz Kaprawi told Umno Online that Muhyiddin should have advised Mahathir against making such controversial remarks, which incurred the wrath of the ruler.
Though stating that Mahathir's criticism was not new, he added: "But his remarks were too much this time as they have led to the wrath of His Royal Higness."
The Sri Gading MP also accused Mahathir of attempting to fan racial sentiments among the people of Johor.
Yesterday, Sultan Ibrahim rebuked the former premier for claiming that Johor was "surrendering land to Chinese nationals" with regard to development projects in the state.
"Enough is enough. I have so far restrained myself from commenting on the controversy on Forest City generated by Dr Mahathir and his supporters.
"But Dr Mahathir has gone too far with his twisting of the issue. He is making allegations that 700,000 mainland Chinese will stay in JB, and that citizenship will be given away, and that huge tracts of land have been sold to the Chinese," the ruler told The Star.
In a letter published by The Star today, Mahathir said he was merely repeating what was reported by Bloomberg.

Refusing to back down, the former premier said he was prepared to face charges of lese majeste.
Mahathir also urged for all transactions to be made transparent.
"Publish all documents about the investments, the number of workers, their home countries, the buyers, the banks which finance and all expatriation of funds. Do this honestly. No hiding.
"So let the truly international Transparency International examine the exposed official documents. Let the people see the documents to prove their genuineness," he added- Mkini
