Deputy minister's son in line-up, police refutes Khalid

Kuala Lumpur police today said the son of deputy minister Tajuddin Abdul Rahman was part of the identification parade related to the assault on Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad.
The police said this in response to Khalid's claim that none of the "main players" in the ambush against him on Parliament grounds on Nov 24 last year, were part of the line-up.
"All suspects arrested participated in the identification parade, including the deputy minister's son. Only one suspect has yet to be identified," Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh said in a statement.
He said Khalid recognised two out of 11 suspects in the identification parade held at the Sentul district police headquarters on Jan 10.
He did not say if the deputy minister's son was among the two recognised by Khalid.
Missing main players
The MP had told a press conference yesterday that those who were brought to the identification parade were bystanders.
However, when contacted today, he said what he meant was that none of those in the parade were "main players" in the attack.
“The two people that we identified were part of the team, but they were standing at the side (during the attack).
“What I said was the main players, who were the most aggressive within the group, (were not in the parade),” he said.
He said the deputy minister's son, a man wearing a blue chequered shirt, and another wearing a coat were visible in a video recording of the incident.
Those involved in the attack claimed to be from Tajuddin's constituency of Pasir Salak and were angry at Khalid for calling Tajuddin "sial" (damned).
Khalid said this in the Dewan Rakyat after Tajuddin said Seputeh MP Teresa Kok is the "only woman with a Kok", during an exchange over the Bersih 5 rally.- Mkini
