Gooi: DAP can't control Putrajaya with just 38 out of 222 seats

PKR has slammed Prime Minister Najib Razak for saying that DAP would be in control of Putrajaya if the opposition wins in the 14th general election.
During his trip to Kedah on Jan 17, Najib had warned that it would not be PKR, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia or Parti Amanah Negara who would be in control, but DAP as it would win the most seats in Parliament.
“It is utterly nonsensical to imagine a DAP-controlled government when DAP only contested and won 2 out of 36 state seats in Kedah,” said PKR’s Alor Setar MP Gooi Hsiao Leung.
“The party won 38 out of 222 parliamentary seats in GE13, contesting mostly against MCA, Gerakan, MIC seats and non-Malay majority seats in Sabah and Sarawak,” Gooi added.
Anti-DAP sentiments during Malay rally
Bersatu and Amanah were both founded by Umno and PAS members respectively, who were disillusioned with their former parties.
Both parties have joined forces with DAP and PKR to form Pakatan Harapan, hoping to be a viable alternative to BN in the coming GE, which may be called this year but is not due until July 2018.
Gooi issued the statement during his Chinese New Year walkabout in Simpang Kuala Market, Alor Setar yesterday.
Gooi accused Najib of once again playing up the anti-DAP racial sentiment at a large Malay gathering in Kuala Ketil, Baling.
He recalled that during the Umno AGM in December, Najib had allegedly resorted to “using lies to instil fear” among the Malays of a DAP-led rule should the opposition come into power in GE14.
Hiding behind anti-DAP scare tactics
Gooi said Najib is “cowardly hiding behind and using anti-DAP scare tactics” due to the increasing number of Malays supporting Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu.
He added that the lies against DAP along racial lines stemmed from Najib's fear and desperation of not just losing power but of going to jail.

“It is almost certain that most of the Umno seats will be contested by the Malay-majority opposition parties (PKR, Bersatu and Amanah) in GE14,” said Gooi, who is PKR supreme council member.
“Should Pakatan and Bersatu capture power, without a doubt, the Prime Minister selected from the opposition component parties will be a Malay leader who will lead a multiracial Malaysia,” he added.
“Kedahans will not be fooled by Najib’s lies to distract the public from what he described as the desperation of a drowning man,” said the PKR Kedah deputy chairperson.- Mkini
