GEORGE TOWN: Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem will be best remembered as being free from public scandal and corruption, said Penang CM Lim Guan Eng.
Adenan was well-read, frank and forthright, he added.
He said both of them shared common beliefs despite being in opposing camps.
Lim said he and Adenan both aspired to have less federal control in their state and the “inalienable” right of locals in deciding on matters concerning themselves.
“Most importantly, we uphold the Federation of Malaysia agreement, as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
“Rest in Peace, Tan Sri, you have done your duty to all Sarawakians,” Lim said in a statement today.
Lim said Sarawak should continue the struggle for religious freedom for non-Muslims, native customary land rights and a 20% share of oil royalties. -FMT
