Jobless man arrested for allegedly prostituting wife

An unemployed man has been arrested for allegedly forcing his wife into prostitution in Sungai Petani, Kedah, according to the police.
In the 9.30pm incident, the 23-year-old woman claimed her husband forced her to have sex with a Bangladeshi for RM50.
Kuala Muda district police chief Md Zukir Md Isa said the woman claimed she had to follow her husband's instruction for fear of being physically assaulted by him.
“The woman claimed she was forced to prostitute herself when the house was raided by Rukun Tetangga (members) who received a complaint that 'khalwat' (close proximity) was taking place.
“The husband who was waiting in a car was also detained, but the Bangladeshi managed to escape,” he was quoted as saying by Utusan Online.
Md Zukir said the case is being investigated under Section 372(1)(a) of the Penal Code which relates to exploiting a person for purposes of prostitution.
He added that the 34-year-old suspect has been remanded for four days to facilitate investigation.

In another development, a senior citizen was charged in the Teluk Intan Sessions Court in Perak this morning on four counts of trading three Vietnamese women and one Chinese national for sex.
Lie Haa, 73, from Tapah claimed trial to all four counts.
Based on the charge sheet, the suspect is alleged to have traded the women aged between 24 and 44 with the intention to sexually exploit them at 11pm last August in Tapah.
He was charged under Section 12 of the Anti Trafficking in Persons Act. Upon conviction, a person can face up to 15 years imprisonment or fine.- Mkini
