Salleh also described Mahathir as a U-Turn leader as he had frequently changed his stand and views on important issues.
(Malaysia Outlook) – Former Premier Mahathir Mohamad’s disclosure that the DAP wanted the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) post has given the people a choice in the next general election (GE 14), either vote for Umno-led Barisan Nasional or DAP-led Pakatan Harapan.
According to Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak , for the upcoming general election there will be a “political choice”.
“If they want Lim Kit Siang to be Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance then they can choose DAP-led Pakatan” in the next election.
“In fact, Mahathir made a significant revelation, as far as politics is concerned, on Jan 17 this year.
“Mahathir indirectly agreed with former DAP vice-president Tunku Abdul Aziz’s allegation that Lim Kit Siang will be the next Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister if Pakatan wins the 14th general election,” Salleh said this after launching a community event at Kemabong.
On Wednesday, Mahathir was reported to have said that the DAP had requested for its party leader to take the post of deputy prime minister should the opposition win the next general election.
Salleh also described Mahathir as a U-Turn leader as he had frequently changed his stand and views on important issues.
“Before this, he was with us (Umno/Barisan Nasional) and we respect him as he had contributed to the country.
“But now, Mahathir is with the opposition and is out to destroy Umno… we cannot allow this to happen.” he added.
Meanwhile at another event in Tenom, Salleh stressed that the government has never discriminated any community based on colour, religion or race.
He highlighted that the people in the country were free to practise their religion and festivities.
“This is the promise we made when we formed this country (Malaysia). The government will always protect all communities and religions without any discrimination.
“The government will ensure that no festival and rights of any community in the country, including Sabah, are stopped or neglected because Prime Minister Najib Razak is a leader who respects the spirit of independence,” he added.
