Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron says land to be sold to a prominent local businessman.
BANDAR MELAKA: Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron has denied a claim by a blog post that a land area of 246.5 hectares under the Melaka Gateway Project was given to investors from China.
He explained that the approximately 141.6 hectares of the said land was being sold to a prominent local businessman.
“I emphasise here that any development in coastal areas, including the reclamation of land, is in accordance with the detailed rules and regulations.
“Of course, when we conduct a project that attracts a lot of interest especially from international parties … it must comply with the standards and the existing laws,” he told a press conference after chairing the state executive council meeting here yesterday.
He described the article entitled “Pengkalan Tentera Komunis Cina di Melaka” on the Apanama blog, as insensitive and aimed at confusing the readers, especially the people of Malacca.
On another matter, he said the Malacca airport runway extension project would not entail acquisition of land of residents in the area. -FMT
