Man detained in connection with viral assault video

Police have arrested a man in connection with an assault that is believed to have been sparked off by an accident.
According to China Press, inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said both parties attempted to settle the matter, but the police did not allow this because it was a criminal case.
He also denied that a "Datuk" was involved in the incident, as alleged in a video of the assault that has gone viral.
Khalid said the driver of the Mercedes Benz and the victim have filed police reports on the matter.
As for the man arrested, the police chief declined to reveal further details of the suspect.
Khalid also advised others involved in the incident to surrender.
The video recording of the assault was accompanied with a message, which claimed that the victim was assaulted for accidentally reversing into a Datuk's Mercedes Benz.

"Bodyguards took law in own hands," reads the message, which claimed that the incident occurred beside a condominium in Bukit Antarabangsa, Kuala Lumpur.
The video showed a man clad in a green T-shirt pinning another individual to the ground and repeatedly hitting him.
Following this, several other individuals arrived at the scene and repeatedly kicked the man on the ground.---Mkini
