Part 2 : Why They Enter And Leave Islam

Ok folks,  going back to that video earlier.

Well the answer from the Quran is very simple. Almost all that you heard in the video is 'extra Quranic'. Meaning it is not in the Quran.

The name Maria the Copt is not found in the Quran. The entire story of Maria the Copt is not found in the Quran.

The guy in the video refers to names like Tabari and Tafsir Jalalayn. All these are extra Quranic material, from other books whose stories are NOT in the Quran.

Here is something about the Tafsir Jalal-ayn. It is supposed to be a highly regarded tafsir or explanation of the Quran. 

'Ayn' means "two".  Jalal-ayn means 'two Jalals'. Two persons having the same name 'Jalal' wrote this book. 

The first was Jalaludin Mahalli in the late 15th century AD, about  ONE THOUSAND YEARS  AFTER THE PROPHET  !!  

But Mahalli died without finishing the book. His student Jalaludin Suyuti (from Asyut in Egypt) completed the tafseer in the early 16th century AD . 

That is why the book is named Tafseer Jalal-ayn or the "Tafsir of the two Jalals". 

But the scholars cannot agree how much of the book was written by J Mahilli and how much was written by J Suyuti.   Most certainly books like the Tafsir Jalalayn must represent the personal opinions of both Mahilli and Suyuti.

What does the Quran say about 'tafsir' ? The answer is in Surah 25:33

Surah 25:33  "Whatever argument they come up with, we provide you with the truth, and a better tafseer (wa ahsana tafseer)"

The Quran is its best tafseer. 

The guy in the video also mentions things like Meccan verses and Medinan verses. Again this information is extra Quranic, it is from outside the Quran. 

The Quran never says this particular verse was revealed in Mecca or that particular verse was revealed in Medina. There is no such thing in the Quran. That is the realm of the "asbabul nuzul" about which I have written before. 

Really that is all I have to say about this.

Can a Prophet be the owner of slaves, especially slave women with whom he slept? What does the Quran say about slaves?

Surah 2:177  "Righteousness is not turning your faces towards the east or the west. Righteous are those who believe in GOD, the Last Day, the angels, the scripture, and the prophets; and they give the money, cheerfully, to the relatives, the orphans, the needy, the traveling alien, the beggars, and to free the slaves (riqab)  ..  . "

This is what the Prophet taught us in the Quran ie that we should free the slaves.

Here are a few more (Surah 90:10-13) :  

90:10    Did we not show him the two paths?

90:11    He should choose the difficult path.

90:12    Which one is the difficult path?

90:13   The freeing of the slaves

The arabic word for slaves in the Quran is raqaba (sing.) and riqaab (plural).

As you can see in the verses above, and throughout the Quran, the Prophet and Messenger taught us to free the slaves (riqab).

Some confused people, including Muslims,  refer 'maa malakat-aymanukum' as "slaves".   It is even translated wrongly. Maybe later. It is not related.

Anyway, having said so many times that the slaves (riqaab) should be freed, can the Messenger take slaves, especially slave women, for himself? 

In other words can the Messenger go against his own teachings?

Here lies the answer :

61:2    O you who believe, why do you say what you do not do?
61:3    Most abominable in the sight of Allah is that you say what you do not do.

In simple Malay it means "jangan cakap tak serupa bikin". Do not say one thing and then do the opposite.

Surely the Prophet (who taught us 61:2-3 above) himself cannot say one thing and then do something else, especially things that are exactly opposite to what he taught us in the Quran. 

Conclusion : I believe that the Prophet and Messenger, the Nabi Ya Kareem was a good man. So please do not say any evil things about him without any evidence or proofs to back up what you say. That is not a nice thing to do at all.  

And please be careful what you say or believe about the Prophet.  

So the guy in the video worked himself up into some anxiety not because of what the Quran says.  His disappointment cannot be blamed on the Quran.
